The old record of 54 fell on March 10, 1998. Henson's doubles total currently stands at 61. Kyle has been a four year starter for SHS, as DH during his Freshman and Sophomore years, and catcher the last two seasons. Kyle was a major contributor in helping last years team set National Records for most doubles by a team in a season (122)and most pitchers with a winning record in a season (10). Henson also holds school career marks for most RBI, most total bases, highest slugging pct. most HR's by a left-handed hitter, and most games played. He also holds SHS season records for most doubles in a season (21 in 1997). In a 1996 District playoff game Kyle hit the longest HR in Indian history, a shot to straight away centerfield, which cleared the second fence 450 feet away, and sailed approximately 60 more feet before finally hitting the ground. Kyle has also seen action at third base, first base, shortstop, leftfield and right field in his career. Hitting for the first time as a right handed hitter he hit a grand slam to help lead the Indians to a 16-1 victory over Vian on March 31,1998. Cavin last year set the school record for most games played, and At Bats in a season, and is currently making a run for most triples in a season and a career and home runs in a season. Jon's improvement from 1 HR in 1997 to his current 8 in 1998 is the biggest power improvement in school history. His current batting average is so high this late in the season he stands an excellent chance to break the school season record in that category. Has also seen action at third base, as well as all outfield positions in his career. He allowed one walk in the game but picked the runner off of first before he had thrown one pitch to the next batter. He and Kyle Henson are the only players to hit home runs over the left, center, and right field fences at Adair State Park. Set a school record last season while playing at first base by committing only one error. Not the fastest of the Indians but perhaps the best base runner. During last summers Minors season batted an incredible .854 in 32 games, had a streak of 21 hits in 21 At Bats during that time. That mark would have been a National Record if it had occurred during the spring. In spring of 1996, Kris set a school record for pitching efficiency in an inning, at the Fort Gibson tournament against the host Tigers, Kris threw three pitches and recorded three outs. Has hit three career grand slams. It is the second highest win total in school history. Gaches recently broke Steve Barton's school records for most games started in a career, is tied for most complete games in a career, and needs two shutouts to break Barton's shutout record. Gaches has thrown only one no-hitter in his career,(1996 vs Sallisaw Central) but has thrown 8 one-hitters. Hit his first career HR on April 3 at Adair State Park, then followed it up a day later with his second. On a pace to join Steve Barton as the only pitchers to post three 10+ win seasons. Has been the Indians ace since his Sophomore season. Ranks second on schools all-time strikeout list. His only loss this season came at the hands of Arkansas' Class AAAA # 1 ranked Rogers. As a Sophomore, out dueled Spiro Senior ace Seth Foster in memorable 3-1, ten inning Regional playoff classic. As a fielder, he has played all outfield positions, First base, and Shortstop. Has pitched better than his current ERA would indicate. After starting the 1998 season as the seventh place hitter, Critter has made the adjustment to become a dangerous leadoff hitter. A speedy, line drive hitter, Crittenden has emerged as the perfect table setter for the Indians powerful 2-3-4-5 batters. When Crittenden is on he is one of the toughest pitchers in the area. A Starter at Centerfield for the Indians in 1998, he started in left his junior season, and has also played first base and right field on occasion. Frequently does a Ozzie Smith style cartwheel on his way to centerfield at the start of games. Although he has yet to hit a spring HR, he has popped three during his summer minors career. Will has an on base percentage of .500, and is posting personal career highs in most batting categories. As a two year starter in the outfield, Fowler has committed only two errors. Will was robbed of his second homerun of the season on April 6, at Springdale when a 40 mile per hour crosswind blew a sure homerun just inches foul. Leads outfielders in assists with four in '98. During his career Will has been the most versatile Indian, starting games at every position but pitcher. Gary and brother Payton this season have passed Tim and Steve Barton as Stilwell's all-time combined home run leaders by siblings. Gary has been used primarily as the Indians DH in 1998. Batting in the number eight hole this season accounts for his low RBI total. Suffered an injury in a intra-squad game early in the season that he is only now fully recovering from. He has also played right field and catcher during his career. Sees most off his offensive playing time at DH. Can play either second base or shortstop. Has a on base percentage of .500. Nelson is currently tied for the school record for most home runs in a season. Payton is making serious runs at season school records for most RBI, runs, and total bases in a season. By this time next year he should be approaching career records in those categories. Nelson's 3 multiple homerun games this season has established a school record. Payton hasn't padded his HR totals by going yard in some of the smaller parks in the area, 7 of his HR's have come at Adair State Park, which has dimensions of 330 down the lines, 375 in the alleys, and 410 to center. Has excellent speed but has usually only needed to trot around the bases this season. Payton made a big splash in his first pitching start of the season, throwing a no-hitter against Kearney, Mo. at the Ozarks Invitational at Harrison,Ark. In his next start he carried a no-hitter into the seventh before allowing a one-out bloop hit into right field.
